Rangers ex-scout thrilled by transfer done by Nils Koppen, ‘high’ resale mooted

Former Rangers scout Neil Murray is excited about the prospect of Hamza Igamane’s resale value.

The 22-year-old joined the club in the summer, signing from AS FAR for a fee of £1.75million.

His recent form has led to Philippe Clement continuing to pick him in the side and he has certainly impressed with three goals in his side’s last three games in all competitions.

The striker looks to have an exciting future at Ibrox and beyond.

Writing in the Sunday Mail [15 December, page 60] Murray tipped the youngster to come good for Rangers both on and off the pitch as he said: “From what we’ve seen so far, Igamane could make a difference and take these chances in big games.

“And scoring against your biggest rivals takes you a long way to becoming a firm fans’ favourite.

“He’ll attack, try and go one v one, make sure he gets in the box, try to carve out chances for himself.

“It [his signing] carried a risk but it comes with the high reward of resale value if the player does well.

“There’s probably not been enough of that at Rangers. There hasn’t really been a lot of resale value in the players.”

Hamza Igamane will shine at Rangers

As Murray says, the signing of Igamane was a bit of a risky one but surely he has already put any worries to rest with his form since getting into the first team at Ibrox.

Although the club are currently going through a tough time both on and off the pitch, the 22-year-old certainly looks to be part of a next generation at Rangers who will no doubt have his part to play in trying to turn things around.

The striker is exciting to watch while also proving to be effective and the range of what he offers in his game means it hasn’t been much of a surprise to see him being preferred to Cyriel Dessers of late.

The Gers signed him on a contract that runs until 2029 which means they are currently under no pressure to act but if his form continues and he develops as a player further, the club will no doubt see a nice cash-in value when it comes to him moving on in the future.

In recent times, the Scottish Premiership side have made the mistake of letting too many players leave Ibrox on free transfers which has left the club short on the money they can re-invest into the side.

However, this case could suggest that those at the top are learning from past mistakes and starting to look at things with a short and long-term vision in mind.
