Peter Grant fires stubborn dig at Clement after what he has seen at Rangers
Peter Grant has accused Philippe Clement of being stubborn after making unexpected changes for Rangers’ draw against Tottenham on Thursday.
The Light Blues will feel massively unlucky not to have walked away with all three points on 12 December, impressing the Ibrox crowd with an impressive display against Premier League opposition.
Clement made some interesting decisions during the clash, with Ridvan Yilmaz and Jefte sharing winger duties, James Tavernier getting forward, and Dujon Sterling even playing right wing when coming on.
Speaking via the Go Radio Football Show [13 December], Grant said: “Celtic have got a better squad, there’s no doubt about that. But what I did see [v Tottenham] is the manager doing things he previously said he wouldn’t do.
“He changed the system, changed the personal and the areas they play, and I think he saw the reward from that. I’m not speaking for all Rangers fans but I think fans will just think, ‘You’re being stubborn now’.
“We’ve got players who we should try somewhere else, make it difficult for the opposition, and have a go.”
Philippe Clement turning the tide at Rangers after recent criticism?
Clement has been under immense pressure since the start of the 2024/25 campaign, and while recent form cannot paper over all the cracks, he is showing some really positive signs.
The 11-point gap between Celtic still exists in the Scottish Premiership table, which by no means should be allowed for a club like the Gers, but there is certainly a chance to lessen that gap.
The Light Blues are unbeaten in nine matches across all competitions, including impressive Europa League displays against Spurs, Nice and Olympiacos, as well as some comfortable league victories.

Of course, a lot of pressure still lies ahead with the Scottish League Cup on the line and Clement will have to get the better of Brendan Rodgers for the first time to reclaim the title this season.
Clement has still yet to beat his Old Firm rival since being appointed at Ibrox 14 months ago but recent form should give them every chance of doing so.
In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson has predicted a crushing blow for Rangers ahead of their clash against Celtic, “Very doubtful”.
