Neil McCann in disbelief after what he saw Rangers do v Tottenham, he was wrong
Neil McCann believes Rangers deserved to claim all three points against Tottenham on Thursday despite what Ange Postecoglou said.
The former Gers man expected Spurs to bounce back from their 4-3 defeat to Chelsea in their previous game when they visited Ibrox in the UEFA Europa League on 12 December but was surprised to see them get caught off guard by Philippe Clement’s side.
Speaking after the game Postecoglou said there was not enough for both teams to go home with the win, but the pundit believes the hosts were the better side.
“I was surprised, I have to say. I know Spurs have lost seven already this season, but I felt that Ange Postecoglou would bring that Tottenham team to Glasgow and really look to get back on track after the defeat against Chelsea at the weekend”, McCann said on BBC Football Focus (14 December, 12:49 pm).
“I felt they would have more about them, I was really surprised. They were lethargic at times, I think they got caught with Rangers’ intensity in the game.
“I think it was brilliant for Rangers to then go and put a performance on and I feel actually they deserved three points.
“I know Ange, after the game, said that they felt there wasn’t much in the game, but I felt Rangers really did deserve to win that game.”
Rangers prove Neil McCann wrong about Tottenham
It is evident that McCann considered Tottenham to be the favourites going into Thursday’s game at Ibrox like many others.
However, it is safe to say that Clement proved him wrong by leading the side to an impressive draw against the North Londoners.
It would not have been a surprise to see the Gers claim the win after the performance they put in against Postecoglou’s side.
The Glasgow giants, though, need more of the same as they look to turn around an underwhelming start to the season.
With Celtic still 11 points ahead of them in the Scottish Premiership, the title already appears to be out of the Light Blues’ hands.

However, they can take confidence from their performances in the Europa League, having won three and drawn two of their eight games in the competition so far.
Clement and co also have the chance to add a trophy to their collection when they lock horns with Celtic in the League Cup final at Hampden on Sunday.
