Rangers long-term financial claim emerges amid Alastair Johnston update
Rangers will be focusing on a recapitalisation model in the long term, according to Hugh MacDonald.
The Daily Mail journalist claims that when Alastair Johnston was mooted as the chairman of the Ibrox club, it was the plan at the time as well.
However, after the recent AGM and proposals made to restructure the behind-the-scenes setup, the club are planning to stabilise their financial situation.
MacDonald told PLZ Soccer on 13 December at 49:49: “When he [Alastair Johnston] was mooted as chairman, I made a few calls about him, and it became clear that if he came on board, the way they would be looking for him would be through recapitalisation.
“He would be, because of his background in the city and that, he’d be key to any recapitalisation of the club, which is where it’s going to go in the long term.
“I think they’re looking to stabilise the club financially.”
Rangers need a coherent long-term plan
This approach would involve restructuring the club’s capital to potentially reduce debt or increase equity, aiming for a more sustainable financial model.
After the recent AGM, further proposals to reorganise the club’s internal operations suggest a comprehensive plan to manage ongoing financial challenges.
The next steps should include detailed financial assessments, possibly issuing new shares or bonds and leveraging Johnston’s expertise to navigate through the complexities of such financial restructuring.
This strategy aims not just at immediate financial relief but at ensuring long-term stability for the Ibrox outfit.
For years, the club has been run awfully with the people in charge incompetent and unable to handle the challenges at hand.
The recent AGM certainly gives an insight into the thought process of the club and it remains to be seen whether or not they can execute it.
In other Rangers news, the club have been savaged for the “shambolic” manner they have handled the qualms of a first-team player at Ibrox.
