Tottenham insider shocks Alan Brazil with Rangers team news – ‘Wow’

Clive Allen shocked Alan Brazil by suggesting that Archie Gray will start at centre-back for Tottenham against Rangers on Thursday.

The Premier League outfit travel to Ibrox on 12 November, but Ange Postecoglou will be without three defensive options due to injury.

This will force the under-pressure manager to make a drastic change to the backline with the Spurs insider telling talkSPORT on 12 November: “Dragusin I feel will play with young Archie Gray alongside him at the heart of the defence.”

This shocked former Scotland international Brazil who replied: “Archie Gray? Do you think he’ll play centre-back? Wow.”

This news certainly took the ex-forward by surprise but that arguably won’t be the case for the supporters travelling to Ibrox from North London.

Postecoglou revealed in his press conference on Wednesday, shared by BBC Sport (11 December), that the 18-year-old would likely start in Govan in the Europa League.

He said: “I have to get creative. I think Archie [Gray] is probably the one for us at the moment that we need to try and get to fill in there… Him and Radu [Dragusin], they’re the two main defenders.”

This will certainly represent a positive update for Philippe Clement as his side goes in search of a fifth consecutive win in all competitions.

To face Spurs without key names like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven will certainly make this an easier task given the qualities that they possess.

This means whoever starts up front for the Light Blues has to pile pressure on the young defensive pairing if they want any chance of picking up a famous win.
