Todd Cantwell makes truly shameful Rangers exit claim

Todd Cantwell’s comments on his exit from Rangers shows nothing but a complete lack of respect towards his former club.

Cantwell departed Ibrox in the summer in a transfer dubbed “shameful” by Keith Jackson as he moved to English Championship side Blackburn.

It seems quite remarkable that he recently hinted that he would be open to a return to Rangers after his latest comments in which he stated that he was “proud” of himself for forcing a move away from Ibrox.

As per the Daily Record (10 December), Cantwell claimed it “didn’t feel right any more” at Rangers and emphasises how he was “proud” of himself for handing in a transfer request.

His comments show a lack of respect and disregard for his former employers.

Rangers were better for Todd Cantwell than vice versa

Ever since the departure of Steven Gerrard in 2021, Rangers have spiralled. Failure to win a single league title since his final season in charge is a showcase of several issues on and off the pitch.

Recruitment has certainly been one of them and the signing of Cantwell looked good on paper, but it was far from that in reality.

Todd Cantwell is linked with a Rangers exit.

The Gers gave Cantwell the chance to demonstrate his ability on some big, big stages. Old Firm derbys, European Football and the chance to play in front of one of the most passionate fanbases in Europe.

For the ex-Norwich man to claim he is “proud” of forcing a move away from all of that is shameful and the small reputation he had left at Ibrox has surely diminished.

If Cantwell was genuine about potentially returning to Glasgow one day, it will certainly not be on the blue half after his constant swipes.
