Romero ruled out of Rangers v Tottenham as close source shares comeback timeline

Cristian Romero will be missing for Tottenham’s Europa League clash against Rangers due to injury, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported on 11 December that sources close to the Argentina international believe the defender will be ruled out for six weeks.

This absence could potentially see the 26-year-old miss 10 games, including the trip to Ibrox on Thursday (12 December).

The Spurs centre-back has only just returned after a month out with a toe injury but damaged his quad against Chelsea on Sunday (8 December).

The ex-Juventus man will represent a big miss for Ange Postecoglou as his partnership with Micky Van de Ven has been a plus point of his side for over a year now.

Romero brings an aggression which is unique to him and compliments the pace and ability of the Dutchman well at the back in North London.

Philippe Clement will be happier to face the Premier League outfit without the Argentine given that his replacement is likely to be Ben Davies.

Although the Wales international is as experienced as they come, it should represent an easier task than facing Spurs’ first-team option.

Whoever the Gers opt to start up front, whether it’s Cyriel Dessers, Danilo or Hamza Igamane, they have to make the night at Ibrox as difficult as possible for the makeshift backline for Postecoglou.

It will be an interesting night at Ibrox where the Light Blues will fancy their chances the closer it gets to kick-off.
