Chris Jack reacts to Marko Soldo transfer developments at Rangers

Rangers “could be interested” in NK Osijek midfielder Marko Soldo in the January transfer window, Chris Jack says.

The Rangers Review journalist believes the Croatian is someone they may be looking at due to his attributes amid reports that the Light Blues have the £2.5million-rated youngster on their radar [Rangers News, 10 December].

Jack admitted he hadn’t heard anything about the links, though, with Philippe Clement yet to hold talks with the Bears’ hierarchy over any transfer budget [Rangers Review, 7 December].

Speaking on The Rangers Review [11 December], the journalist said: “Not anything I’ve heard of. Not something I’m aware of.

“It sounds like a deal Rangers should or could be interested in just because of the profile, in terms of position, age, potential value, potential resale value. That’s the sort of market they have to be looking at and trying to exploit if possible.”

Marko Soldo perfect addition to Rangers squad

The Gers have found their feet in recent weeks after a poor start to the season, and Clement seems to have finally found his preferred starting lineup.

With the arrival of Connor Barron in the summer, the Belgian manager had some big calls to make and has decided to rely on the former Aberdeen star.

The Scotsman has formed a brilliant partnership with Nicolas Raskin in the engine room, with the Belgian impressing many with his recent displays.

Ianis Hagi is another that Clement has finally deployed at Rangers, with the Romanian thriving in that role in the 6-0 win over Kilmarnock on 4 December in the Scottish Premiership.

While Soldo could cost a pretty penny, with suggestions of a price tag of up to £2.5m, the Light Blues should be investing in such talents.

With Nils Koppen looking to improve the player-trading model at Ibrox, these relatively unknown players could be exactly what he wants in Govan.
