Postecoglou makes honest Rangers fans admission ahead of Ibrox trip with Spurs
Ange Postecoglou is expecting an “intense” atmosphere when Tottenham face Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Rangers will be looking to get one over on former Celtic manager Postecoglou when they host Spurs at Ibrox on 12 December, with several changes expected.
Despite what has been a poor season for the visitors, Rangers cannot afford to underestimate Spurs ahead of a reunion that Postecoglou expects to be “intense”.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Postecoglou admitted via Sky Sports. “I had a great time up there in the two years I was there [at Celtic]. Fair to say, Ibrox can be fairly intense and I’m sure we’ll feel that.
“It’s a great stadium to play football in. The atmosphere, European nights. Even when I was there, they did awfully well in Europe – the first year I was there they got to the Europa League final.
“I’m also looking forward to being back in Glasgow and feeling the cold again and hopefully see some friendly faces among the others.”
Rangers have a huge week ahead
A home encounter with Spurs in the Europa League precedes a crucial Scottish League Cup final against fierce rivals Celtic at the weekend, with it shaping up as a crucial pair of fixtures.
After what was a dismal start to the campaign, the Gers find themselves 11 points behind this weekend’s opponents in the league, and cup success could be their only real chance of attaining silverware under Philippe Clement.
Some of the pressure has been alleviated for Clement as the Gers are enjoying a winning run, but failure to beat Celtic especially could significantly amplify that pressure once again as it would all but confirm another season without success.

The Gers have failed to win a league title since Steven Gerrard’s departure in 2021 and while that will always take priority, any silverware will be a welcome addition at Ibrox.
If Rangers are to get a result against Tottenham, utilising the momentum from their recent run will be crucial and could be the catalyst behind any potential success at the weekend.
