Andy Halliday shares why Rangers fans may be ‘fuming’ within days at Ibrox
Andy Halliday says Rangers fans will be fuming if Philippe Clement doesn’t set his side up in an attacking way against Celtic.
The Bears take on their rivals in the Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park on 15 December, days after the Europa League clash against Tottenham.
However, while there is still plenty of progress to be made at Ibrox, Clement’s side has made significant strides recently with a change of system.
Speaking on the Open Goal podcast [10 December], Halliday shared what the Gers must do: “I think they should still have a go.
“I think Celtic will win the game right, I think everyone’s pretty confident in that so if you sit off them and let Callum McGregor go and dominate the game and let Celtic get their easy touches of the ball, I think Rangers fans will be fuming if you lose the game that way.
“But I do think if they go and have a go and they lose 1-0, I’m not saying they’ll be happy but at least they’ll see that they went and had a go, obviously attacked them.
“I think when you see the change they’ve made over the last couple of games, which there has been, I think it’s a lot more refreshing for the fans to watch.”
Rangers fans could be fuming v Celtic
Rangers certainly go into this game as the underdogs which is a fact that will not sit well with many supporters who are disappointed with the gulf between the two sides this season.
However, Clement has proven he does have the ability to get his side playing some nice football and scoring goals and that will be essential in this game to give his supporters something to cheer.
As Halliday says, while supporters will never be happy to lose a game, especially not one of this magnitude, how the Gers play will no doubt serve a big difference in what the reaction from supporters will be like if they don’t come away with the victory.

There remains plenty of speculation over Clement’s position at Ibrox after their struggles this season and it will take a long time for supporters to be on side.
However, if he can set his side up to go and give Celtic a game on Sunday, he may well walk away with his first Old Firm win and the silverware to go alongside it.
In other Rangers news, the club have set their sights on signing a defender who has previously been at Ibrox.
