Kris Boyd slams ‘Criminal’ Ross County v Rangers footage he saw on Sky Sports

Kris Boyd has slammed Ross County goalkeeper Jack Hamilton and labelled his role in Danilo’s goal for Rangers in their Scottish Premiership clash as “criminal”.

The Brazilian managed to close the 30-year-old down in his own box, take the ball around him and then coolly slot it into the back of his net for the Gers’ second of the game.

Speaking live on Sky Sports (8 December, 14:17pm) after the game, Boyd shared his thoughts on the overall performance of both teams as Rangers left Dingwall as 3-0 victors.

“No one will ever convince this – unless you’re the top teams and you play out and everything for teams that are up against it,” he said.

“I just do not understand what the goalkeeper’s (doing) – to start with plays it out to a centre-back, he was into midfield he’s going to lay it back, he’s going to go long anyway just get everyone squeeze up the pitch, try and win second balls, call me a dinosaur if you want – the amount of times teams give away goals trying this to play out from the back, it’s criminal.”

Danilo has given Rangers a new lease of life

This season has been one that most Rangers fans will likely want to forget because, at the moment, they currently sit third in the Scottish Premiership and are 11 points adrift of league leaders, Celtic.

They may have cut down the gap between themselves and second-placed Aberdeen but when the fact that most fans expected the Gers to put up a decent title fight this season is taken into account, it shows of far off the pace they’ve been.

One of their main problems has been the fact they’ve not had much firepower in the final third.

Indeed, Cyriel Dessers has often been left to lead the attacking line by himself due to the injuries sustained by Danilo and the fact that Hamza Igamane didn’t look quite ready for the physicality of the league just yet.

However, since Danilo has returned, he’s formed a solid partnership with the Morocco international and has managed to help intrigue fans with the way that the Gers attack.

Only time will tell if it’s too little too late regarding their title hopes but at the moment, things seem to be going swimmingly.
