Hamza Igamane has fire in the belly as comparisons to ex-Rangers ace made
Craig Moore believes Hamza Igamane has a “fire in the belly” after what he’s seen the striker do for Rangers this season.
The attacker was brought in for around £1.69million in the summer but has only recently been given a chance to start a run of games.
He’s also been in fine form of late with the Morocco international netting three times in his last two games against Nice and Kilmarnock.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (5 December), ex-Rangers man Moore compared the playstyle of the 22-year-old to that of former Rangers ace Gabriel Amato.
“The more I see of him the more I like,” he said. “On the eye, he’s [Hamza Igamane] a little awkward in terms of his body shape but I tell you what, he’s a very, very good player.
“The reason I say that, as a defender, he gives you a sighting of the ball but he already has a solution, I don’t know how many times I’ve seen him, even his goal against Nice, pops the ball through the defender’s leg and away he goes.
“He’s done it again a couple of times last night [against Kilmarnock], he’s ready and waiting for the defender to make a decision to be able to make a telling action.
“He reminds me a little bit of [Gabriel] Amato, in the way that he’s not an out-and-out striker as such but I tell you what, you don’t want to end up one-versus-one against Igamane, he will go nine times out of 10 and create a positive action.
“I like him, young boy yes, fire in the belly, that’s a DNA that Rangers should look into more.”
Hamza Igamane could become key for Rangers in the future
While Igamane’s start to life at Ibrox didn’t go as smoothly as most fans wanted, over the last couple of games he’s played in, it feels like he’s really starting to come into his own.
Of course, there’s still plenty of room for improvement, and there are always ways for players to get better, but with Cyriel Dessers’ lack of composure in the final third it’s likely refreshing for fans to have someone who can finish regularly in the team.
The fee they paid for the 22-year-old in the summer was fairly steep, especially when he hadn’t played outside of Morocco before but if his form continues in this upward trajectory, it’s hard to see why Clement wouldn’t make him his first-choice striker.

Alongside Dessers, there’s also the future of Danilo to take into consideration. While it’s evident that the Brazilian has bags of talent, his injury history leaves a lot to be desired.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Clement and Rangers but at the moment, things seem to be going swimmingly.
