Rangers six-figure update leaves David Edgar stunned at AGM
David Edgar was left stunned at a six-figure revelation that emerged from the Rangers AGM on 5 December.
CFO James Taylor confirmed that £810k was indeed the number the club received from the combined departures of Sam Lammers, Connor Goldson, Todd Cantwell, Scott Wright and Robby McCrorie.
It’s understood that the wages they were on meant that the club would rather sell them for a low fee than continue paying their salaries until someone offered more money.
Via X, Edgar wrote: “Shows how much they were all on – for so little return – that they were just desperate to get them off the wage bill. Dreadful recruitment for years.”
Rangers need to change the way things are run from the top down
This number serves as a clear example of why things are run so badly behind the scenes at Ibrox.
For years, the club have let quality players leave either on free transfers or very low fees.
Any well run club would ensure that a decision is made on high-value players well in advance so that they cannot run down their contracts.
It seems that certain individuals see Rangers as a place to earn easy money and that’s why they even turn down moves away from the club because it’s much more lucrative to warm the bench.
Earning money without performing should not be easy and the change in the board structure should ensure that it never happens again.

While it may seem promising on paper, it’s important that it’s practically executed too and that it reaps the right results.
In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on the club signing a new striker in the January transfer window.
