Rangers AGM image shows how much is being spent on wages, players named

Chris Jack has shared an image from the Rangers AGM which showed the decrease in wage spend from last compared to this season.

Jack revealed a photo from the AGM via X (5 December) sharing that the salary cost of their squad from last campaign was £41million with an average age of 29.7.

The likes of Connor Goldson, John Lundstram and Todd Cantwell name-dropped as goals to reduce age and average age while increasing asset value at the forefront of Nils Koppen’s plans.

This has already worked to an extent with the salary cost of the squad dropping to £35m for the current season with the average age also falling to 23.5.

Summer signings like Connor Barron, Jefte and Mohammed Diomande are featured on the list to help achieve the goals set by the Dutchman.

It hasn’t been the best start to the season for the Light Blues which has seen pressure build on Philippe Clement.

This has come after 11 new signings came in through the door at Ibrox during the summer while another nine departed on permanent deals.

It isn’t necessarily a surprise that the Belgian has struggled to get a tune out of his side but now it appears that this was part of a grander design.

The Govan club haven’t been without their financial problems but seems to have methods in place to right any wrongs that have gone down in recent years.

There is already evidence that this is working with the salary costs at Ibrox decreasing by £6m in just a season while the average age has fallen by over four years on average.

Although things on the pitch have suffered somewhat from the change in strategy that has been utilised there is hope that the club will benefit moving forward.
