John Gilligan issues £10m update at Rangers AGM
Rangers chief John Gilligan confirmed that the loan amount of Danish investor Julian Wolhardt is not £10million.
The interim chairman was asked the question at the club’s AGM on 5 December as restructuring is on the cards behind the scenes.
Gilligan also stated that the loss from expenses due to Hampden will be six figures and go into next season’s numbers.
Heart and Hand podcast’s Colin wrote on X: “Sam Carson now – we need the manager to get maximum resources. The restructuring loans can you confirm if a £10m loan to Julian is part of the restructure.
“It’s not £10m. As part of restructuring we will look at refinancing his existing loans. They will not be repaid they will be part of the refinancing.
“Sam asked about what the full loss will be from going to Hampden. Chairman confirmed it was 6 figures and will be in next year accounts.”
Rangers fans must continue to demand accountability
The lack of clarity from the club regarding financial matters, such as the specifics of Julian Wolhardt’s loan and the financial impact of playing at Hampden, is emblematic of ongoing issues with transparency at the club.
Fans, as demonstrated by the questions at the AGM and the subsequent social media discussions, are rightfully seeking detailed answers to understand the club’s financial health and strategic direction.
This opacity not only breeds distrust but also hampers the supporters’ ability to engage constructively with the club’s future.
It’s crucial for the Ibrox faithful to continue pressing for transparency.
Only through persistent questioning can the decision-makers at Rangers be held accountable, fostering a culture of openness that could lead to necessary reforms and improvements in club governance.
Continued pressure from the fanbase might eventually lead to the changes needed for a more transparent and inclusive club management.
