Cyriel Dessers footage wows Hugh Keevins in Rangers v Kilmarnock – ‘Predatory’

Hugh Keevins tipped his hat to Cyriel Dessers after he displayed his “predatory” instincts as Rangers beat Kilmarnock 4-0 at Ibrox on Wednesday.

Dessers staked a claim to return to the Gers starting XI after grabbing a brace off the bench against Derek McInnes’s side on 4 December.

Reacting to the Nigeria international’s first goal on the Clyde1 Superscoreboard, Keevins pointed out how he slotted right in after coming on in the 66th minute.

“Everything is going right for Rangers, absolutely everything”, the pundit said.

“Dessers didn’t require two or three misses to get his goal this time. He’s just fired it in like a predatory striker would.”

As Keevins said, everything went right for Philippe Clement’s side against Kilmarnock, with James Tavernier and Vaclav Cerny also getting on the scoresheet.

To Dessers’s dismay, however, Hamza Igamane and Danilo also got a goal each, making the competition for the number nine spot intense.

With the UEFA Europa League clash with Tottenham [12 December] and the League Cup final against Celtic [15 December] just around the corner, it remains to be seen who among the three will get the nod to lead the line for Rangers on those occasions.

Dessers was Clement’s go-to man until Igamane scored twice in the Gers’ 4-1 victory over Nice last Thursday [28 November].

The Belgian tactician was, therefore, left with no option but to axe the 29-year-old for the trip to St. Johnstone at the weekend and keep him on the bench against Kilmarnock.

Clement, though, will not be bothered about the increasing competition for spots in the team.
