Rangers v Kilmarnock player ratings – Ianis Hagi, Nicolas Raskin outstanding
Rangers secured an impressive 6-0 victory at Ibrox on Wednesday night against Kilmarnock.
Philippe Clement’s side managed to muster a solid performance in the SPFL as well, much to the delight of the fans in attendance on 4 December.
James Tavernier, Vaclav Cerny, Hamza Igamane and Danilo scored a goal each while Cyriel Dessers bagged a brace for the Ibrox outfit.
Here are our player ratings from the game:
Jack Butland – 5
While he did not concede a goal, his passing was not ideal as he misplaced eight out of 12 of his long balls, per Sofascore. It’s not his fault but he had nothing to do all game, making no saves as the visitors failed to muster an effort on target.
James Tavernier – 7
While he’s not used to scoring too many from open play, he would certainly take this. He timed his movement perfectly next to the far post and the moment the cross came in, he slotted the ball home.
John Souttar – 7
Solid in defence as he managed to successfully keep the Kilmarnock attackers at bay. He looked confident with the ball at his feet and was integral in the build-up. He also made a couple of crucial clearances that were vital in keeping a clean sheet.
Leon Balogun – 6
While he wasn’t quite as effective as his centre-back partner, this wasn’t a game where he saw any of his flaws being exposed. He had a good understanding with the players around him and watched his side coast to a huge victory. A good decision to start him ahead of Robin Propper.
Jefte – 7
Got forward as often as he could and offered much-needed dynamism in the final third. He got a deserved assist as he was tireless on the left flank. Hopefully, he continues to improve and put in such displays.
Vaclav Cerny – 6
Initially looked like he was struggling to get involved with the majority of the play coming down Gers’ left. However, whenever he got the ball, he was looking to make things happen and deservedly got his goal in the second half.
Nicolas Raskin – 10
An imposing and dominating performance in the middle of the park by Raskin. Did precisely what one would expect a quality number 6 to do and with the way he’s playing, he has to be among the first names in the team sheet. A Man of the Match performance and the Ibrox faithful would surely be going back home raving about their star Belgian midfielder.
Mohamed Diomande – 8
The Ivorian was all over the pitch and put in an absolutely tireless shift. Not only was he winning back possession and throwing his body on the line, but was impeccable with his passing too. On their day, Diomande and Raskin together can make lives difficult for all teams.
Ianis Hagi – 9
Played an inch-perfect cross to set up Tavernier’s opening goal. This was a clear indicator as any that the Romanian is here to play and why he deserves more chances. He then played another excellent pass to set up Danilo for Gers’ second. There can be no doubt that he is here to stay and be the difference maker for the Ibrox outfit.
Hamza Igamane – 7
A magnificent goal from long range and it was well deserved. Until then, the Moroccan hadn’t found the back of the net but it was a strike worth the wait.
Danilo – 7
Had a glorious chance to score a headed goal in the first half but was denied by a brilliant stop. Clement will be delighted he kept getting into the right positions. His hard work paid off when he found the back of the net in the second period.

Substitutes
Nedim Bajrami – 5
Completed single-digit passes since he came on but looked to play the ball forward and make things happen.
Kieran Dowell – 6
Came on for Cerny and offered a threat on the right flank. On another day, he would’ve grabbed an assist too.
Cyriel Dessers – 7
Came off the bench to score two goals and proved he could be the ideal impact substitute under Clement.
Rdivan Yilmaz – 5
Did not get involved as much as he would’ve liked but he knows that these games are for ramping up his match sharpness.
Connor Barron – 6
Offered much-needed energy off the bench and there’s very little to fault with the limited time he was on the pitch.
In other Rangers news, a first-team player is in his last season at Ibrox and not in Philippe Clement’s long-term plans.
