Rangers could make Jefte call amid Jack Mackenzie talk at Ibrox
Jefte could find his home as a winger at Rangers if the club push ahead with a move for Jack Mackenzie.
The Aberdeen left-back has been an ever-present in the Scottish Premiership for his side so far this season, and has been recommended by the Daily Record’s Scott McDermott as a potential long-term successor to the often injured Ridvan Yilmaz [30 November].
Jefte has operated at left-back predominantly but has shown himself to be defensively suspect at times, and despite his tender age of 20, he could be moved further forward rather than worryingly cast aside.
Philippe Clement has experimented with the idea, with the young Brazilian shown to be something of a rough diamond as he approaches the six-month mark of his four-year contract at Ibrox.
Rangers still yet to figure out left-back solution
With the ongoing squad overhaul which has taken place in recent months at Ibrox, Rangers are still yet to definitively suss out their long-term left-back option.
Borna Barisic departed in the summer, with Jefte the first arrival through the door and MacKenzie now an earmarked target, though no recognised interest has yet been suggested from the Gers camp.
Youngster Robbie Fraser is also developing, though is in fact older than Jefte and could see his longer-term future lie elsewhere.

MacKenzie has been lauded by the Scottish press this season and despite Aberdeen’s superior league campaign to the Gers so far, a move would be seen as a natural step up, similarly to that of Connor Barron.
It is certainly one to watch as Clement, Nils Koppen and the board finalise their January plans, with one last chance to get things right.
