Philippe Clement could be sacked by Rangers in hours as massive claim made

Derek Ferguson believes Philippe Clement could be sacked by Rangers if they lose any of their next three domestic matches, including the League Cup final with Celtic.

The Gers have won back-to-back games to ease the pressure on under-fire Clement, but there is a sense those results are merely papering over the cracks.

Indeed, Ferguson believes defeat against Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Wednesday (4 December) could force Ibrox chiefs to take action in a “massive” period for the club.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Ferguson said: “If he doesn’t remain unbeaten domestically over these next few weeks at the very least, I don’t think he’ll remain in a job.”

Clement has got to win every game up to the cup final, and then win that cup final. If he can beat Celtic, that’ll go a long way to appeasing a lot of the fans.

“But then we play Celtic again in the league two weeks later as well. It’s massive for him. These next six weeks are massive.”

Rangers cannot slip-up against Kilmarnock

A cliche it may well be, but Clement really will be taking it one game at a time right now. And right now, all focus is simply on getting the job done against Kilmarnock.

There is a real sense that the Gers are simply treading water domestically, unable to catch Celtic at the top and even struggling to make too much ground on Aberdeen in second.

If the Gers beat Kilmarnock as expected, they then have a trip to Ross County in another potential banana skin tie.

The Tottenham game in the Europa League can be considered a free hit of sorts, as long as the performance itself isn’t bad, but then comes the biggie against Celtic in the League Cup final.

It really is a must-win period of games coming up for Clement.
