John Gilligan update emerges ahead of Rangers AGM

John Gilligan is expected to be reappointed to the Rangers board at the AGM on Thursday, believes Chris Jack.

The Rangers Review journalist stated on 4 December, a day prior to the AGM, that there are few who are expected to vote against Gilligan.

This is because he’s popular among the supporters and has put in a tireless shift filling in for John Bennett.

Jack wrote: “Resolution Four sees interim chairman John Gilligan put himself forward for reappointment to the board.

“Given his standing amongst the supporters and the selfless and tireless shift he has put in since being asked to replace John Bennett, it would be a surprise if there are many who vote against Gilligan.”

Rangers need more people like John Gilligan on the board

Gers would benefit significantly from having more individuals like Gilligan on their board.

His dedication and tireless efforts, especially in his interim role as chairman, have not gone unnoticed among the supporters, reflecting a deep connection with the club’s community.

This kind of commitment is crucial for fostering a positive relationship between the board and the fans, which has been strained at Ibrox.

At the upcoming AGM, it’s hoped that discussions will not only reaffirm Gilligan’s position but also outline a robust structure for the club’s future governance.

A solid foundation, with clear roles, strategic planning and transparent communication, would help stabilise Gers, ensuring that the club’s values and fan expectations are at the heart of its operations.

This could potentially herald a new era of stability and success at Ibrox – something the fans have been crying out for.
