Simon Mignolet makes ‘unbelievable’ Clement claim in Rangers sack verdict
Simon Mignolet believes Rangers should “stick with” Philippe Clement this season despite the “pressure” that has built up around him at Ibrox.
The Belgian has been under some severe scrutiny this season with both fans pundits alike calling for his head in an underwhelming campaign.
Speaking to the media in quotes relayed by The Daily Record (30 November), Mignolet shared his thoughts on why the Gers should stick by the Belgian.
“There isn’t a more hard-working person than Philippe and I’m sure, given the chance, he’ll do well for Rangers. I’d stick with him. This guy knows what he’s doing,” he said.
“He has shown in the past how good he is. Of course, there will be times when results are not going your way. I know Glasgow Rangers are a big club and if results aren’t good there will be pressure. But if there’s one guy who has got confidence in Philippe then it’s me.
“He was unbelievable for myself and for Club Brugge. We had a great time with him and we’re still in touch. Philippe was the manager who brought me back to the club and we won a lot of titles with him. So I can only speak really highly of him.”
Philippe Clement has bought himself some more time at Rangers
There’s no denying that the form of Gers in the Scottish Premiership has left an awful lot to be desired.
The club currently sit third in the table and are 14 points adrift of top spot but they do have a game in hand over their Glasgow rivals.
Their game against St Johnstone on 1 December is a massive game for the Gers as if they lose or even drop anymore points, they can more or less kiss their title hopes goodbye.

Most fans expected their team to be able to put up a decent fight for the title this term. While their form in the Scottish League Cup and Europa League has been top-notch, things just haven’t quite clicked in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers’ 4-1 win over Nice on 28 November will have no doubt bought the Belgian more time but with the way things are going at the moment, it feels fairly unsustainable for the team to keep this sort of form up.
