Philippe Clement sack verdict drops as ‘Dreadful’ Rangers torn to shreds
Rangers fans have had enough of the “absolutely dreadful” football at Ibrox, Gordon Dalziel has said.
Assessing the Light Blues’ current situation, Dalziel said that supporters are starting to switch off with a “massive” December ahead.
The pundit, though, admitted that he would not sack Philippe Clement on the back of the games against Tottenham and Celtic in that month.
“They’ve got a massive December coming because there will be two big, big games – obviously, Spurs come calling, then they’ve got the cup final,” Dalziel said on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard [26 November].
“Now, that would paper over the cracks, but I’d give him [Clement] a bit of breathing time, I think the Rangers fans would give him a bit of breathing time.
“But, the football and everything about Rangers just now is dreadful, it’s absolutely dreadful.
“It’s not me sitting here because I don’t go and pay money for it, the fans have switched off, they’ve had enough, they need a change, they need something to excite them.
“They’re watching Celtic go away into the distance and they’re just standing still.”
Rangers ‘absolutely dreadful’ under Philippe Clement
It is hard to imagine Rangers fans turning against the club, but Dalziel is not wrong about supporters growing tired of the playing style under Clement.
The Glasgow giants’ performances under the Belgian tactician, particularly in domestic competitions, have left much to be desired.
Clement is clinging onto his job in Govan due to the Light Blues being reluctant to sack him in the absence of a permanent chairman [Ludo Vandewalle].
However, with Patrick Stewart now confirmed to take charge as their new CEO on 16 December, the 50-year-old must turn things around if he wants to remain at Ibrox.

Malcolm Offord could also be in line to replace John Bennett as Rangers’ permanent chairman after emerging as a leading candidate [The Scottish Sun].
Sacking Clement could be Stewart and Offord’s first act together at Ibrox if the games against Tottenham [12 December] and Celtic [15 December] do not go according to plan.
