Rangers ready investment as Elon Musk verdict emerges at Ibrox

Rangers needing investment from Elon Musk to bridge the gap to Celtic is “nonsense”, Dan Plumley has said.

Tam Cowan recently joked that the American billionaire is the only man would could help the Bears get back on top of Scottish football.

Plumley, a football finance expert, admitted that Rangers can achieve fresh investment soon and the gap is not as insurmountable as people make out to be at Ibrox.

“I’m hoping it was massively tongue in cheek,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“It’s absolutely blown out of proportion.

If you look at Rangers and Celtic, and we will always compare those two clubs given their relative standing in Scottish football, financially given where Celtic are in the here and now, in the Champions League group stage and we say it year-to-year in Scotland, that qualification to the Champions League is the one that pushes you ahead of the other.

You can look at that on the revenue line, you can then look at that in terms of what the club can do now, and given as always that on-pitch performance is part of that and the pressure that has been on Rangers with some of the results not good enough, that probably fuels some of this media nonsense.

It’s exactly where those two clubs are at and they will always be looking at each other, it’s fair to say that both on and off the pitch, Celtic are ahead of Rangers.

That gap is not insurmountable, but it’s tricky to close every year and can depend on that European picture so any investment in, we know Rangers are looking for that, they can achieve that and it’s what that investment then hopefully enables them to do and kick on and progress.”
