Clement sack matter of ‘when’, not ‘if’ as Rangers agree new appointment

Philippe Clement’s sacking at Rangers appears to be a matter of time away after Patrick Stewart was appointed as CEO, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported on Tuesday 26 November that the Belgian’s exit from Govan is seen as a question of “‘when’ rather than ‘if'”.

This comes after rumours swirled via WhatsApp on Sunday (24 November) claiming that the manager had departed the Gers by mutual consent just hours after the CEO’s appointment.

This wasn’t the case with Stewart not taking over until 16 December as he takes time “to travel and recharge his batteries” after leaving Manchester United in April.

The Light Blues boss is coming under continuous pressure at Ibrox right now which sees every result come under heavy scrutiny.

This was certainly the case against Dundee United on Saturday (23 November) where the away side took the lead through Sam Dalby in the first half.

Despite having the majority of the ball and chances, the Gers just could not make their chances count and arguably Clement can’t be blamed for that.

Vaclav Cerny saved the Belgian’s blushes with a second-half strike which was only good enough to secure a point which appears to have saved his manager’s job.

Now the Ibrox club look ahead to a trip to face Nice on Thursday (28 November) which could prove to be the last straw in the dugout for the ex-Monaco boss.

With Stewart set to take up the hot seat in the boardroom, it will be interesting to see if a decision will be made before or after he starts his tenure.
