Scott Allan wowed by ‘Incredible’ Rangers v Dundee United footage he saw

Scott Allan was impressed by Dundee United goalkeeper Jack Walton after he denied Rangers a match-winning goal with an “incredible save” on Saturday.

Rangers simply weren’t good enough again against United, dropping another two points in a 1-1 draw at Ibrox although Walton played a huge part in making that happen.

The Luton town loanee made an impressive eight saves in the encounter at Ibrox although it was the save from Hamza Igamane that impressed Allan the most, denying the substitute from close range.

Speaking on Sportscene’s recap of the game (23 November), Allan said: “Some fantastic saves. Listen, to go to Ibrox and come away with a point you’re going to need everybody at it. No one more so than your goalkeeper.

“First one, parries it out into a dangerous area but the reflexes and the reaction for the second one, incredible.”

Dundee United pile more misery on Rangers

The Gers now find themselves 11 points behind rivals Celtic at the top of the table. A tally which is becoming increasingly more difficult to recover and as long as Philippe Clement’s side continue to drop points, that gap will only increase.

It has been a dismal season for the Belgian at Ibrox and the draw just epitomised the lacklustre level of performances that have haunted their campaign.

While Walton was in good form for the visitors, Rangers simply looked toothless in front of goal and devoid of any attacking quality.

Clement perhaps earned a minimal bit of credit when seeing his Gers side through to the Scottish Cup final, although more dropped points in the league instantly removed that and he is on borrowed time at Ibrox.

The criticism is certainly warranted and if Rangers fail to beat St Johnstone in their next league encounter, it is almost impossible to see a way back for both Clement and the Gers.
