Philippe Clement must take Cyriel Dessers action v Dundee United to save Rangers job
Philippe Clement simply needs to haul off Cyriel Dessers at half-time against Dundee United if he is to save his Rangers job.
The Gers found themselves 1-0 down to Jim Goodwin’s side at the midway point of Saturday’s (23 November) contest at Ibrox, with Dessers failing to make any sort of impact.
The 29-year-old has been in fine form in recent weeks, scoring in each of his last three appearances for the Light Blues in all competitions.
But the striker also frustrates many due to his attitude on the pitch, and that’s once again been on show for the Bears against the Tangerines.
Philippe Clement has relied on Dessers for most of the season, with the centre-forward making 20 appearances in all competitions for Rangers.
The Nigeria international has started in a majority of the Light Blues’ fixtures in the league, scoring just four goals and providing one assist.
Cyriel Dessers needs to replaced for Rangers vs Dundee United
The Bears made an error in the previous transfer window by not prioritising the signing of an experienced number nine, with Hamza Igamane still incapable of leading the line at the Glaswegian giants.
Rangers have also been unable to rely on Danilo over the last few months due to his injury issues, which has forced Clement to stick by Dessers.
The Nigerian has hardly had a touch of the ball in the game against Dundee United, and with the likes of Danilo and Ianis Hagi on the bench, Clement needs to try a different experiment in the second half against the Tangerines.
Dessers might be the best man for the job at the Bears right now, but his display in the opening 45 minutes highlights the need for a plan B at Ibrox if they want to get the three points against the Tangerines.

Clement is under serious pressure right now and, should the game finish this way, it is not hyperbolic to suggest he could be sacked.
The Belgian therefore has to take decisive action and cut Dessers’ game short.
