The Daily Record journalist reported on 20 November that the Gers head coach has appeared as a surprising name on the shortlist of candidates.
Clement is facing the heat at Ibrox as his side are currently in third place and nine points off the top of the table.
Pirie wrote: “After rounding off a disappointing Nations League campaign with defeat to Israel, the Belgium boss is facing mounting pressure over his future with Record Sport understanding Clement is a surprising name to emerge on a shock list of potential successors with the Royal Belgian Football Association looking to go with a homegrown coach this time.”
