Rangers star James Tavernier disappointment claim emerges as BBC pundit issues verdict
Graham Dorrans admits that Rangers defender James Tavernier will be disappointed with the way things have been going recently.
The right-back and club captain was the third-choice option for Philippe Clement in the European fixture against Olympiacos.
While Dorrans, a BBC pundit, has stated that it’s the manager’s decision, he backs his former teammate to bounce back from the setback.
Via the Daily Record, he said: “100 per cent, he is a leader. He is not someone who screams and shouts but he’s a winner. Knowing him personally, I know he’ll be disappointed with the way things are going at the minute but he is not one for shying away from things. He will puff his chest out and keep going.
“That’s a question for the manager. He makes the decisions and if he sees fit to make the changes that he wants, that’s what he does. But knowing James he will keep his head down and he’ll work 100 per cent the way he always does.”
James Tavernier must have belief in his abilities to win back the starting spot at Rangers
In the face of recent criticism and the challenge of being demoted to a backup role in big games, Tavernier needs to harness the adversity as motivation to reclaim his position.
The negativity surrounding his performances can be a double-edged sword as while it might dent confidence, it also presents an opportunity for introspection and improvement.
Tavernier must use this period to focus solely on his footballing attributes, enhancing his game in training and preparing to prove his worth on the pitch.
His response to this situation will define his resilience and leadership.
By channelling the external pressures into positive action, the 33-year-old can demonstrate his value not just through words but through performance.

His experience and past contributions give him the foundation to bounce back, but it will require dedication and a laser-sharp focus on what he does best.
