Rangers account reveal not ‘Massive concern’ at Ibrox as new verdict drops

Rangers latest accounts are not a “massive concern” despite some upheaval around Ibrox, Dan Plumley has said.

The football finance expert admitted that the loss position has been changed compared to previous seasons by the player movement and profit on registrations dropping significantly.

Rangers confirmed in their recently published accounts that they operated at a £17.2million loss in the 2023 financial year.

“It’s not a massive concern,” Plumley exclusively told Ibrox News.

“If you look at some of the highlights in those accounts, revenue is up slightly on last year, that’s due to an increase in matchday and ticket hospitality sales.

The big swing in terms of if you all the way down the profit and loss account, what’s changing the loss position and making it a bigger loss than last year is the player movement and the profit on the disposal of player registrations, they generated £23.6million from that in 2023, and they’ve generated £5.6million in 2024 and all the other figures are broadly in line.

Rangers accounts emerge at Ibrox

You sometimes get these big swings in loss or profits-to-loss because of the volatility in movement, so I don’t see this particular set of accounts in isolation being a concern for Rangers.

Of course, they will be mindful of the loss, but the player movement situation can change that pretty quickly as well.

While not a “massive” concern, it is just yet more negative news coming from the club when nothing appears to be going right at Ibrox.

Fans jeered Philippe Clement once again at Ibrox during the 1-0 win over Hearts on 10 November, and more positive news is needed sooner rather than later.

In other Rangers news, one Light Blues player justified Philippe Clement’s selection after what he did against Hearts on Sunday.
