Steven Gerrard to Rangers claim emerges after talks held with people

Craig Moore believes that Rangers fans are split over the prospect of Steven Gerrard making a managerial return to Ibrox.

With Philippe Clement under pressure at the club and Gerrard struggling in the Middle East, the former Gers boss has been linked with a return to Glasgow.

Moore is of the opinion that the Ibrox faithful are split 50/50, much like Celtic fans were when Brendan Rodgers returned.

He told Go Radio: “My general feeling, speaking to people, and therefore, you do get a flavour. It’s 50/50 in regards to Steven Gerrard. A little bit like the Brendan Rodgers situation.”

Rangers must not bring back Steven Gerrard

Getting Gerrard back may seem poetic as he was the last manager to win the title, but there seems little reason to do that.

The club need to move forward and the Englishman’s two jobs after leaving Ibrox haven’t exactly been successes.

Not only did he flop at Aston Villa and get sacked in no time, but he’s also struggled in the Middle East so it’s evident that his managerial flaws have been exposed.

Gers need an up-and-comer whose stock has been rising and he could help build this side for years to come.

Ideally, they need a manager who can promote young players and work on a budget in the transfer market as finances are undoubtedly tight.

Hopefully, while Clement continues to be in the job, work is ongoing on finding a suitable replacement if the board does decide to sack him.
