Jim White: Rangers bombshell incoming – ‘This is going to explode’
Rangers losing 2-1 to Aberdeen on 30 October could lead things “to explode” for Philippe Clement at Ibrox, according to Jim White.
Speaking on talkSPORT with Simon Jordan (31 October, 10:23am), White said that with a clear lack of leadership at the top end of the club, alarm bells will now be ringing for every Gers fan.
Clement’s side sit nine points behind both Celtic and Aberdeen in the Premiership title race following defeat at Pittodrie, leaving Clement on the verge of the sack despite no evident succession plan.
White said: “This is going to explode, I promise you – no chairman, no chief executive at the Ibrox club, and the big question is now – no leadership, is Philippe Clement sleepwalking to the sack?
“It’s a bit panic stations, the alarm bells are ringing.”
Rangers don’t know where to turn after Philippe Clement
Despite all the calls for Clement to lose his job with the Light Blues already nine points behind two teams in the title race, fans’ confidence in the hierarchy to make that decision is at an all-time low.
The Ibrox boardroom is a shell of its former self at present, with John Bennett’s resignation leaving vacancies in the role of chairman, CEO, academy director and now director of football operations too.

A lack of decision-makers still leaves Clement in a precarious position, but with the club seemingly in stasis at the moment, who exactly decides on the Belgian’s future remains an even bigger question.
The cost of sacking Clement is also something which currently seems untenable for the cash-strapped club, particularly given his two predecessors are still being paid off as part of £17.2million in losses [Scott McDermott, 29 October].
Clement has become a shield for the board above him and a lightning rod for criticism, but given what happens on the pitch remains his prerogative, calls for his sacking won’t be going away any time soon.
In other Rangers news, Clement’s assessment of an out-of-form Gers star have been called “nonsense” by Roger Hannah.
