Rangers confirmed XI v Aberdeen – Philippe Clement axes Robin Propper in five changes

Philippe Clement has made five changes to his starting lineup as Rangers prepare to face Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday 30 October.

The Light Blues have announced their first XI via X, with Tavernier returning to his regular spot at right-back. Jefte has dropped out of the team, meaning Neraysho Kasanwirjo moves to left-back in what is one of the most notable changes.

Cyriel Dessers will lead the line after being benched for the second time in the league this season in the team’s 2-1 win over St Mirren on Sunday (27 October).

John Souttar and Tom Lawrence have, meanwhile, gone straight back into the team after returning from injuries, with Robin Propper and Mohamed Diamonde dropping out. Ross McCausland has taken Vaclav Cerny’s spot.

The trip to Pittodrie offers the Gers an opportunity to build on their wins against FCSB and St Mirren in the UEFA Europa League and Scottish Premiership respectively.

It is also a chance for Clement’s side to reduce the gap with one of the top two sides to three points and claw their way back into the title race after dropping six points behind.

The Light Blues, though, have to be at the top of their game to take all three points away from Pittodrie, having won only one of their last four league visits there (Sofascore).

Clement will be hopeful that Tavernier is firing on cylinders after unusually starting from the bench in the 2-1 win against St Mirren at the weekend.

The returns of Souttar and Lawrence are also a huge boost, while it remains to be seen if Dessers can fire the team to victory after being benched against St Mirren.
