Jim White issues Philippe Clement sack claim as Rangers face Aberdeen
Jim White believes that Philippe Clement is under pressure at Rangers and a win against Aberdeen would do him a favour.
The talkSPORT host believes that the game is a feisty affair at the best of times and a lot is riding on it for Clement who has been linked with the sack at Ibrox.
A loss against the Dons at Pittodrie on 30 October will see Gers nine points adrift of the top of the SPFL standings.
White told talkSPORT on 30 October at 11:21 am: “There’s a massive game tonight. Aberdeen v Rangers. Feisty at the best of times. Good to see Aberdeen up there. Jostling with Celtic.
“Philippe Clement is under huge pressure at Rangers. He could go there and get the result and that will do him a favour, wouldn’t it?
“It could go either way, this one. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 0-1. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 1-0.”
Rangers v Aberdeen almost a do-or-die for Philippe Clement
The prospect of Clement facing showdown talks with the board following a potential loss against Aberdeen is very much on the cards.
A defeat would place Gers nine points behind the league leaders, a gap that, at this stage of the season, signifies a substantial underperformance for a club with their resources and expectations.
This scenario would intensify the existing pressure on Clement, whose position has already been under scrutiny due to inconsistent results.
The board’s patience could be wearing thin, especially if there’s a perceived lack of progress or tactical acumen from the Belgian, potentially leading to a crisis meeting to assess his future.
Moreover, given the historical rivalry and the significance of maintaining competitiveness against teams like Aberdeen, a loss could be seen as a failure to uphold the club’s prestige and ambition, possibly triggering a discussion on whether Clement is the right fit to steer the club back to the top.
He’s got to prove he’s the right one for the job and pick up the three points for the Ibrox outfit.
