Alan Rough shares what he now fully expects to see in Rangers clash v St Mirren
Alan Rough fully expects plenty of goals for Rangers when they host St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday (27 October).
The Gers responded perfectly to the 1-0 loss against Kilmarnock last weekend with a resounding 4-0 victory against FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday [24 October], and Philippe Clement will be demanding more of the same at Ibrox.
Rough shared his prediction for PLZ Soccer [26 October, 9m, 24s] and believes the good feeling from the midweek win will continue into the weekend for the Gers against a struggling St Mirren side.
He said: “It just shows you what happens when you win a game. Everything will be positive, the fans will go along there, they’ll be up for it.
“I think they’re getting St Mirren at the right time. They’re going through their dodgy patch as well.
“I think there’ll be goals in this. I mean some of the goals that St Mirren lost last week were horrendous and if they do the same at Rangers, I think it could be three or four.”
Rangers need to send a SPFL statement against St Mirren
While the Europa League win has helped ease the ongoing concerns at Ibrox, the fact remains that the side has serious ground to make in the league, starting against St Mirren.
Clement is now in a situation where each match he faces in the league is a must-win. Rangers must start bridging the six-point gap to Celtic and Aberdeen at the top of the league and have a golden chance on Wednesday [30 October] when his side travels to Pittodrie.
However, all hope will be lost on the domestic front should the Light Blues fail to win at Ibrox this weekend. St Mirren are there for the taking, having lost three consecutive matches heading into the fixture.
The difficulty with the Gers at the moment is there is no guarantee of which side will turn up on the day – the one who can put four goals past a side in Europe, or the one who fails to put one past Kilmarnock.

Clement must nail his team selection at Ibrox and choose his side based on form. With leading forward Cyriel Dessers massively underperforming thus far, the side cannot afford another afternoon spawning chance after chance.
Rangers are in a fantastic position to send a statement of intent to the SPFL in front of a bouncing Ibrox and should by all accounts run riot against St Mirren to set up a mouth-watering top-of-the-table clash against Aberdeen next week.
