Philippe Clement sack verdict at Rangers issued by David Tanner after what happened at Ibrox
TalkSPORT broadcaster David Tanner believes the sack pressure is off Philippe Clement for now after Rangers secured a 4-0 win against FCSB, but followed that up with a caveat.
The Gers secured their second Europa League victory of the season on Thursday (24 October), winning 4-0 against the Romanian outfit at Ibrox.
This was a much-needed result after the Belgian manager came under fire after the 1-0 Scottish Premiership defeat against Kilmarnock on Sunday (20 October).
Speaking via X post-match (24 October), Tanner suggested the performance from the Light Blues lifted the pressure on Clement, but that may only be a temporary reprieve unless the players keep it up.
He said: “Tonight they dug deep and gave their manager the kind of performance that he really, really needed. They fought, they dug deep, they chased, they attacked with pace and they got their rewards.
“Philippe Clement came into the game under real pressure. This performance and the scoreline really does ease that but, and this is a big but, this group of players need to show it every week. We will see.”

Football is a fickle game – one defeat and it’s the end of the world and one win and things are starting to look a bit more rosy.
This feels like the case at Ibrox, although fans are still not completely sold on the Belgian after a frustrating start to the season.
Demands of patience from the manager would be more well received from supporters if performances were consistently like they were against FCSB.
There were multiple star performers, with the likes of Vaclav Cerny and Tom Lawrence getting on the scoresheet after positive showings.
The frustration will be rife again at Ibrox if the Gers do not carry this performance into their next clash as they welcome St Mirren to Ibrox on Sunday (27 October).
Clement has to hope that his side are as good as they were against FCSB otherwise pressure is only going to build even faster if three points aren’t secured.
That shows just how quickly the mood can shift – not just at Ibrox, but at football clubs the world over.
