Oscar Cortes future now ‘up in the air’ at Rangers after ‘complicated’ Ibrox development

Oscar Cortes’ future at Rangers is now “up in the air” due to his current situation at Ibrox being “complicated,” according to Caracol Radio.

The Colombian Radio Station reported this via their website on 23 October and shared that due to the amount of injuries he’s suffered, the attacker now needs to “justify” the Gers’ obligation to buy him.

The report also adds that Cortes “still has time” to prove his worth to the Gers and get back to the form he showed before his recent injury problems.

Rangers need Oscar Cortes back within their first-team squad

The Gers’ attack was one of the most changed areas of Philippe Clement’s squad in the summer.

While many players were brought across the board, it was their attacking ranks that seemingly saw the most change.

Todd Cantwell is an example of a player who exited Ibrox in the summer for pastures new, causing Clement to search the market for new talent.

Indeed, Cortes was already part of the Gers’ set-up last term and had a fairly decent return, contributing to three goals in just seven games.

In fact, his performances were so strong that the Belgian chose to bring him back to Ibrox and include an obligation to buy within his new loan deal.

On paper, this might have been seen as the correct thing to do but at the moment, his continuous injury struggles have left a lot to be desired.

If Cortes wants to leave his mark at Ibrox he needs to get over his physical woes and prove to fans why the Gers brought him in otherwise his arrival will be yet another one added to Clement’s growing pile of failures.
