Dorin Goian sure FCSB will upset Rangers in Europa League clash, says Ibrox won’t matter
Dorian Goian is confident FCSB will take at least a point from Rangers when they clash in the UEFA Europa League at Ibrox on Thursday 24 October.
The former centre-back played for both teams during his career but swore allegiance to the Romanian side by backing him to cause an upset at Ibrox.
He added that he was totally unimpressed after watching his former employers in Scotland succumb to a 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock in the Premiership on Sunday (20 October), dubbing the Gers “predictable”.
“It will be a very interesting game. In my view, FCSB will get a point or [all three] points in Glasgow”, Goian told GSP.
“I also saw the Rangers match in the championship, 0-1 at Kilmarnock, they didn’t surprise me at all. A very predictable offensive game, they did not impress me at all.
“FCSB are on a good path, the players have good morale, also taking into account the fact that they won in the derby [against Dinamo].
“They are playing at Ibrox and their motivation will be at its peak. I am sure they will play an extremely good game and get a positive result.”
Goian also said that the match being at Ibrox will not matter much, tipping FCSB to quieten the crowd in attendance.
“Ibrox is a very beautiful stadium. The fans sing, they support their team, but if Steaua play with ease and have better possession, which I think will happen, it will quiet the Rangers fans”, he said.
Dorin Goian’s comments on Rangers rub salt into the wounds
No one at Rangers will like what Goian said about the club’s current state ahead of FCSB’s visit, but it is also hard to deny them.
The team’s performance against Kilmarnock left a lot to be desired as they blew the chance to reduce the gap with Celtic and Aberdeen to three points. Clawing their way up the ladder now seems a herculean task for the Light Blues despite being only eight games into the league campaign.
As Goian said, Philippe Clement’s side are futile in attack, with Cyriel Dessers coming in for a lot of criticism for his lack of intent.

FCSB, on the other hand, come into the game high on confidence after beating derby rivals Dinamo Bucuresti away from home at the weekend.
One thing Goian could be wrong about, though, is Ibrox not being a factor in the game. The Rangers faithful could prove the ex-defender wrong by upping the ante under the lights once again on Thursday.
In other Rangers news, Clement may have found his saviour in the B team after what this player did for David McCallum’s side.
