Chris Sutton fires new jibe at Rangers and Philippe Clement after Celtic Champions League draw

Celtic great Chris Sutton has never particularly tried hard to mask his dislike for Rangers and Philippe Clement.

The former Hoops striker turned Sky Sports pundit has been quick to criticise the Belgian and his playing squad so far this season and while a lot of it has been deserved, he has been guilty of being slightly over the top.

But as usual, Sutton has wasted no time firing a new jibe at the Gers and their manager only seconds after Celtic picked up an important Champions League point with a 0-0 draw against Atalanta on Wednesday (23 October).

Writing on X on Wednesday (23 October) he said: "No celebrating a draw like others do… but a brave, organised defensive display from Celtic.

"Schmeichel a top-class goalkeeper and some of the last-ditch defending was excellent from Trusty and Scales. A bit of pragmatism from Brendan Rodgers playing Idah up top."

While Sutton may not name the Light Blues or Clement in his tweet, it is pretty clear that is exactly who he is referring to in his latest message.

Following a 3-3 draw between the Gers and Celtic last term, the Sky Sports pundit tore into the Gers for claiming they had secured a moral victory over their Old Firm rivals by coming from behind to claim a point.

While that entire saga is almost a year old now, it is safe to say it is still on the mind of Sutton and several Celtic supporters even after they have managed to pick up a vital point in an important Champions League game.

Unfortunately, Rangers and Clement will have to wait 24 hours to have any way of hitting back at the former Hoops forward. Once again this term, they have had to settle for Europa League football while their Glasgow neighbours play on Europe's biggest stage.

Hopefully, the Gers will manage to claim all three points against FCSB at Ibrox on Thursday (24 October) so that they have the chance to respond to Sutton and the rest of their critics.
