Mohamed Diomande called out by BBC pundit after what he did in Rangers v Kilmarnock
Billy Dodds has called out Mohamed Diomande after a negative pass in the first half put Rangers under pressure against Kilmarnock on Sunday 20 October.
The Gers have struggled against Derek McInnes’ side, failing to put much pressure on the home side’s defence throughout the opening 45 minutes.
The Ivory Coast international has failed to get forward and looked negative at times which left Dodds frustrated live on BBC Sportsound (20 October).
He said: “You need more there from the Rangers midfield. Why is he rolling it back to one of the centre-halves to play again?
“You’re in a good position, in Kilmarnock’s half, be braver than that. You’ve got beyond their front two, you’ve got the extra man, go and be direct. Why he turns back, Diomande is beyond me.”
Mohamed Diomande frustrates for Rangers against Kilmarnock
The Light Blues have gone in at the break level at Rugby Park despite the home side putting the ball in the net but Stuart Findlay’s goal was ruled out for offside.
This should have been a warning shot for the away side after a first half where they generally struggled to get going at Rugby Park.
Philippe Clement’s side didn’t really change their game after this moment and continued to struggle as Kilmarnock caused plenty of problems.
A general lack of movement in forward areas made life difficult for the backline and midfield but at some point, someone has to force something through.
Diomande is a player that supporters want to see get on the ball and make things happen, he certainly has the ability to do that.

Against Killie, he has regularly chosen the easy option of playing a backwards or sideways pass rather than taking a risk and looking forward.
In the second half, he needs to take a chance and something might happen to help the Gers take the lead.
In other Rangers news, a contract claim has emerged for one star as £20,000-a-week+ wages have been speculated at Ibrox.
