Rangers v Hibs news emerges as first-team duo mooted to be ruled out
Martin Boyle and Joe Newell could both miss the game for Hibs against Rangers on Sunday, 29 September, according to David Gray.
The Hibs boss told Edinburgh News (26 September) that the duo were doubts, confirming previous reports of the Australia international being unavailable for the game.
Boyle confirmed that Boyle faces “a race against time for this weekend” while Newell is taking longer than expected to recover from a double hernia operation.
Rangers have to pick up the three points against Hibs
Gers have to capitalise on the Hibs duo being unavailable and go out and dominate proceedings on Sunday.
With the game at Ibrox, the home fans will be getting Philippe Clement’s side and they’re expected to get the job done.
The supporters will be hoping that travelling to Sweden in mid-week will not have a European hangover effect on the side over the weekend.
Clubs are often not at 100 per cent after playing in Europe and then travelling for the game on Sunday.
However, the squad depth should be good enough as Clement can look to rotate against Malmo and also spring up a few surprises against Hibs.

Hopefully, the hosts do not struggle to get their mojo going right from the off otherwise he could be a long day at the office with the side keeping the ball but failing to carve out goal-scoring opportunities.
In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on external investment being made into the club in order to reach the next level.
