Rangers defender Connor Allan has secured a season-long loan move to Kelty Hearts, the club confirmed via their official website.

Gers announced on 20 September that the 20-year-old will be playing the rest of the campaign at the Scottish League One club.

Despite the transfer window closing, the centre-back, who's also capable of playing in midfield, has left to gain first-team experience.

Rangers make the right decision to loan out Connor Allan

It's a good decision from Gers to allow Allan to move to a lower-league club but play important first-team minutes.

He could've continued at Ibrox and featured for the B team, but going to a new club and getting a taste of senior football prepares a player differently.

Hopefully, he gets regular game time and returns to the club as a more polished player ready to knock on the first-team door.

He's 20 so he's perhaps got one or two more loan spells before a decision needs to be made about his future.

This one might arguably be the most defining one and if he does fare well, he could even be part of the pre-season squad next summer.

As of now, the club will send their best wishes to him and will be keeping tabs on his development in the coming months.
