Rangers submit Connor Barron compensation case as SPFL tribunal update shared

Rangers and Aberdeen are waiting for a date to be set for Connor Barron’s tribunal hearing, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported via their website on 12 September that despite the clubs being in discussions, they have failed to agree on a fee for the youngster.

The SPFL will consequently have to rule on a compensation figure and are in the process of setting up a compensation tribunal, with Rangers and Aberdeen having put forward their respective cases.

If Barron were to have left the Dons for a club outside of Scotland they would’ve been due a fee worth around £500,000 but rules for domestic moves are different.

Connor Barron was one of Rangers better transfers over summer

Rangers have made a lot of changes to their squad over the summer. Philippe Clement’s first full season in charge is now underway and it hasn’t exactly gone to plan so far.

The Gers find themselves fourth in the Scottish Premiership, five points adrift of league leaders Celtic after only four games.

Although Clement’s signings haven’t yet made as much of an impact as they would’ve liked to, Barron has been the exception.

The 21-year-old has started each game for the club this season and has filled the void left by John Lundstram with Derek Ferguson even hailing him as one of the Gers’ best players.

There’s no doubt that Rangers fans will be thrilled with his transfer [Scot Gemmill, 4 September] and now it is just a case of waiting to see how much Rangers will have to pay their Premiership rivals.

A date isn’t yet set but even though the Gers offered the £500,000 that Aberdeen would have received if he moved outside of Scotland that wasn’t accepted, so now only time will tell how much the youngster could potentially cost.
