Blackburn Rovers man Todd Cantwell baffles with what he did after deadline day Rangers exit
Todd Cantwell has left Si Ferry baffled after he fired a parting shot at Rangers following his deadline-day transfer to Blackburn Rovers.
The Englishman, who requested to leave Ibrox during the transfer window, called time on his spell in Glasgow and completed a £500,000 move back to the Championship in the final hours of the summer.
Following his move to Ewood Park, the attacking midfielder suggested the club was different to the one he joined 18 months ago, much to the frustration of Ferry who slammed his decision to take to social media.
Speaking on The Open Goal YouTube channel (3 September, 1:18:54) he said: “A few left obviously, Cantwell left with a parting shot saying the Rangers that he signed for wasn’t the one that he left.
“Why? Why do you come out and say that? Have you ever felt like doing that when you’ve left a club? It would never even cross your mind to put something like that out would it?”
How much did Rangers earn for Todd Cantwell’s deadline-day transfer?
It seems that the majority of football supporters and pundits are all baffled as to why Cantwell felt the need to fire a new jibe at Philippe Clement’s side even after he departed Ibrox this summer.
The attacking midfielder’s outspoken attitude and social media activity proved to be a problem throughout his time in Glasgow and while it wasn’t his biggest issue, Clement will likely be happy to see the back of it.
In an ideal world, the attacking midfielder would have remained a Rangers player, finally got his head down and begun to perform week in and week out, but it is clear that he doesn’t think that is what is best for his career.
Hopefully, the Light Blues will be better off without him and the deadline-day signings made by Clement will come in and fill the void left by the Englishman.
At least Gers supporters don’t have to sheepishly check Instagram after each and every defeat in fear of what Cantwell may have posted.
In other Rangers news, the Light Blues have been told that a Clement decision has “backfired” after recent developments at Ibrox
