Rabbi Matondo dubbed ‘awful’ after what he did in Rangers first half v Celtic
Ian Crocker has slammed Rabbi Matondo after his weak header sparked a Celtic counterattack just minutes before missing a sitter for Rangers.
The Gers have had the better of the opening 45 minutes but typical of their Old Firm form, it was the home side who took the lead through Daizen Maeda.
This came just minutes after Matondo misplaced a header and then missed a golden chance to put the Light Blues one up at Parkhead.
Speaking on Sky Sports Football on 1 September, Crocker was left unimpressed by the Wales international.
He said: “Matondo…that was awful from Matondo.”

Chances for Rangers to take the lead don’t come up very often in Old Firm clashes in recent years no matter who the manager is.
Philippe Clement’s side had the chance through the 23-year-old whose header drifted well wide of Kasper Schmeichel’s goal.
This proved to be costly with Celtic having a Kyogo Furuhashi goal ruled out for offside before Maida swept home a legal opening goal.
Given that the Ibrox club had dominated the early stages of the clash, the frustration was only made worse for supporters.
There was a lot of positivity surrounding Rangers at the beginning of the first half but as soon as the Hoops went 1-0 up, Clement’s men failed to keep up that performance level.
Matondo was partly to blame and his afternoon was over when he was subbed off for Ross McCausland due to an injury with 7 minutes of the half remaining.
The Belgian will certainly be disappointed to go in 2-0 down at half time, after Furuhashi doubled the home side’s lead, being behind in the Old Firm once again.
