Walsall pull off ‘major’ transfer coup courtesy of wantaway Rangers man Todd Cantwell

Walsall have pulled off a “major coup” thanks to Rangers forward Todd Cantwell’s imminent move to Blackburn Rovers, according to Alan Nixon.

The journalist wrote via his Patreon on Friday (30 August) that George Hall of Birmingham City was close to joining Blackburn before the Championship club opted to move for Cantwell instead.

As a result, Hall has decided to sign for EFL League Two side Walsall. The 20-year-old is keen to play after an injury-hit couple of seasons and will make the move to the Saddlers.

It appears as though Cantwell’s move away from Ibrox has made some waves around English football.

However, what Rangers supporters will be interested in first and foremost is whether the forward will secure his move away from Ibrox before the transfer window shuts at 11 pm on Friday (30 August).

As reported by the 4th Official (30 August), Cantwell has completed his medical with Blackburn, and an announcement of his transfer should “soon” follow.

However, according to Sky Sports News (30 August), personal terms are yet to be agreed between the 26-year-old and Rovers ahead of the £500,000 transfer.

With time against both clubs and the player, everybody connected with the transfer will be keen to get a move on and have things finalised in time.

Cantwell clearly wants out of Ibrox. Therefore, it is in everybody’s best interests that a transfer goes through, as the last thing Philippe Clement needs is an unhappy face around the squad.

In other Rangers news, a pundit has reacted in disbelief to a completed signing at Ibrox.
