Chris Sutton reacts to Rangers transfer agreement on Todd Cantwell
Chris Sutton has wished Todd Cantwell good luck as his Rangers exit has now been agreed.
Writing via his personal X account (30 August) Sutton wished the winger well and claimed that he is going to a “great club” in Blackburn Rovers.
It comes after BBC journalist Andy Bayes shared that everything has been agreed between the two clubs, with an announcement soon.
“I bet Callum McGregor is breathing a big sigh of relief this evening,” he wrote. “Good luck to Todd he needs to start doing his talking on the pitch. He’s gone to a great club.”
Rangers will be happy to see the back of Todd Cantwell
Since he was brought to the club by Michael Beale, it feels as if Cantwell failed to settle into life at Ibrox.
Despite becoming one of the club’s highest earners and being touted for great things earlier in his career, the attacker failed to live up to the hype that was created around him.
Although there were times that he was the stand-out player amongst the Gers’ team, there have been far too many antics on his behalf that have soured his time with the club.
The fee agreed for the attacker is said to be worth around £500,000 [Alan Nixon, 28 August] but the fact that the wages are now off of the Gers’ books will be a massive weight off of the shoulders of Philippe Clement.
Cantwell’s sale could now mean that the Gers have the funding available to reinforce their squad as they see fit but, as has been the case for most of the window, nothing concrete has yet been shared.
That is aside from the loan deal for Neraysho Kasanwirjo with has now been announced.
