Rangers could sign Kristian Arnstad for £1.2m only for him to do nothing at Ibrox

Dan Bardell believes Rangers trying to sign Kristian Arnstad from Anderlecht shows where they are in the transfer market as a club.

The Gers have had a somewhat busy summer window with seven fresh faces coming in at Ibrox to replace their outgoing stars.

With the window deadline coming up on Friday 30 August, the Light Blues could make one more addition in Arnstad for £1.2million [the Scottish Sun].

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks this deal would be a risk and sums up the state of the club right now in the window.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “It’s difficult but unfortunately it is the market that Rangers are operating in now.

It is one of those transfer policies when you sign a young player from abroad that could see them become a gem or they might not adapt to the club.

They won’t lose out from a financial point of view because he’d be coming in for a small fee. It’s just a sign of where Rangers are at the moment, the market where they are operating is difficult.

When you are signing players like Arnstad there is the likelihood that he might not do anything and then he leaves without ever really achieving anything or improving the club.

Rangers interested in Kristian Arnstad from Anderlecht

It appears that Clement is keen to add to his squad before the end of the transfer window but the Belgian manager has to make the right decisions to make his side better.

Arnstad would represent an unknown quantity and potentially a large drop-off from the likes of John Lundstram and Ryan Jack who left at the end of their contracts.

It has to be said that signing a 21-year-old with positive experience in a top European league and under-21s international football for a cheap fee could prove to be a coup.

If the Norweigan is thrown into the midfield alongside fellow new signing Connor Barron, the Light Blues could be exposed through the centre of the pitch.

There are positives and negatives to every signing and now the Gers need to consider their options before completing this deal.
