Rangers document emerges to show what they’ve done about Celtic controversy

Rangers have applied to Glasgow City Council for planning permission to install safety nets at Ibrox for Old Firm games.

The Gers failed to reach an agreement with their Glasgow rivals over away support meaning there would be no visiting fans at the first two derbies of the season.

This issue could be resolved soon with the Light Blues submitting a request to the city council on 19 August asking for nets to be added to the stadium between home and away supporters.

It reads: “Installation of demountable safety netting system to the corner of the Broomloan and Govan stands for high-risk fixtures.”

Rangers take steps toward Celtic agreement

It was of great disappointment to learn that there would be no fans at Old Firms once again for at least the opening two clashes.

The lack of visiting supporters takes away from the spectacle and makes it a bizarre game to watch in person or on TV.

Considering the derby is the jewel in the crown of Scottish football, it is disappointing to have it ruined somewhat by a tit-for-tat argument between the clubs.

Rangers will be hopeful that this planning request could be a step in the right direction to restoring the fixture to normality in the coming months.

It could be said that this could be a deliberate tactic to delay proceedings but that is yet to be seen and time will tell.

Fans of Celtic and the Light Blues will, for once, be in agreement on this and want a solution as soon as possible because it’s lasted too long as it is.
