Jim White waves around document as he calls on SPFL rule change after Rangers update

Jim White has been left fuming by Rangers and Celtic for not reaching an Old Firm away ticket allocation agreement and has urged the SPFL to change the rules.

The Light Blues have confirmed there will be no visiting fans (14 August) at the first two derbies of the campaign.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 16 August, White waved the rules around and questioned why the league organisers aren’t stepping in to solve this argument.

He said: “It appears that there will be no away fans at the next two, at least, Old Firm matches. Why? The fallout seems to go on.

“Simon, producer Joe has gotten hold of the rules, is there provision in there to make this damn thing happen? Has the SPFL got teeth here?”

Rangers fail to reach Old Firm agreement with Celtic

After years of strange silences after goals in Glasgow Derbies, it had felt that those days were over after the end of last season.

Now that bizarre atmosphere looks set to continue into the new campaign as the two clubs fail to reach an agreement over away allocations.

This appears to have been done in a tit-for-tat style argument between the two rivals which just needs to be sorted out rather than dragged out.

It is unclear as to who this benefits. Both Rangers and Celtic fans will be annoyed and now the clubs face interesting chats with the SPFL.

White has demanded that the organisers get involved and if they do it could result in sanctions for the Old Firm duo.

Given that the Gers have been knocked out of the Champions League and will miss out on that revenue, they can’t really afford any financial implications.
