Rangers to laugh all the way to bank if they get £2m Scott Wright fee touted
Rangers could be left very happy if they can sell Scott Wright after a £2million price tag was mooted.
The Light Blues’ winger has been consistently linked with a move away from Ibrox in recent transfer windows.
This year has been no different with links to English Championship sides like Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle showing an interest [David Edgar, 24 July].
Now the Daily Record reported on 9 August that the Gers could demand a “realistic” £1.5-2m transfer fee for the Scot.
It is safe to say that if Rangers received that sort of fee for a player on the fringes of their squad, they’d be laughing all the way to the bank.
Rangers could sell Scott Wright for £2m
The 27-year-old began the new season under Phillippe Clement in the starting XI against Hearts and Dynamo Kyiv but a move away could make sense for all parties.
Wright has benefitted from a lack of fitness from his teammates which has seen him boosted into the starting XI.
As the season moves on, the likes of Václav Cerny, Rabbi Matondo, Ross McCausland and Oscar Cortes will all be demanding regular minutes.
This would see the former Scotland youth international be relegated to a fourth-choice option at Ibrox which doesn’t benefit anyone.
A sale would certainly help Clement to be able to operate better in the transfer market as he looks to strengthen his squad moving forward.

Receiving £2m for a player who is unlikely to feature very much would be an excellent business to allow the Gers to reinvest.
A move to the Championship could prove to be beneficial for him but it is safe to say that Rangers come out of this deal on the better end of the stick.
In other Rangers news, the club are locked in a transfer battle as they aim to bring an English striker to Ibrox on a free transfer.
